So, as usual this story starts with an email.
'Hey Matt, you sexy bald god.
I've got a tonne of comics that I no longer love, you should buy them, blah blah blah.'
Literally word for word, that. So I replied that their asking price might be a little bit too high for such a small count, but I was willing to put up and take a look. Well, I'm glad I made the effort.
Now an important thing to note here is that we paid over £10,000 for this lot, and that much money is very, very rarely associated with 3,000 comics. .30,000, potentially, maybe even 100,000, sure. But 3k? No chance. Boy, oh boy, was I wrong.
Upon arrival, we found... Gold. Literally and figuratively, as some of the comics in the collection ranged as low as 1952!
From pre-code golden horror, all the way to 80s key Xmen, this collection was STACKED... and stacked in the best way too. Keys. Keys, keys, keys, keys, and keys. Nothing but keys. Thats nearly THREE THOUSAND key issues, in a condition so incredibly, that I accused our new friend of kidnapping a timetraveller and using his timetravel device.
Long story short, we're over £10k down, and 3,000 comics up. Stay tuned for some sneak peaks of what's to come!
