We3 – Grant Morrison & Frank Quietly (2014) Vertigo is by far one of the most unique indie comics that has ever been released, written by the delightfully eccentric Grant Morrison and drawn by the phenomenal talent that is Frank Quietly.
It's truly a story that is made to grab you from the get go and manages to pack so much into its tiny 3 issue run. This story, essentially an R-Rated take on homeward bound, is about three pets experimented on by the government who are hunting them as they are trying to get home. The artwork is truly something groundbreaking with the use of shifting panels to create a clear 3D representation of a battle.
This is something I have never seen before or after and in a comic with such little dialogue the art is critical to get the story over and boy does it deliver.

All in all, this story is one about family, friendship, governmental abuse and that age old question of “what is home?”.
I personally cannot recommend this enough to anyone, especially someone who is not sure what they want to read next. Every now and then we all get a bit of the tights and capes fatigue but WE3 truly serves as an astonishing palette cleanser.
