Hidden Gem in Uncanny X-Men Annual #15: Wolverine’s Inner Battle

From the look of it, Marvel Comics Uncanny X-Men Annual 15 doesn’t look like much. Sure, it’s got an early Mike Mignola cover, but it’s part 3 of Kings of Pain, the other parts being

New Mutants Annual 7 (part 1),

New Warriors Annual 1 (part 2) and

X-Factor Annual #6 (part 4). But that’s not what we want to highlight. The hidden gem here is the final story of the annual called The Enemy Within.

Specifics first! Starring Wolverine and written by Len Kaminski with fantastic art by Kirk Jarvinen and inks by Brad Vancata (we could tell you the letterer and editors but no one cares as much about them).  Printed back in 1991 by Marvel Comics.

Any fan of Wolverine should own this comic, you get a too short but awesome look into Logan’s psyche.

The whole story takes place over 5 pages, but what 5 pages there are.

It’s not an expensive comic, but it’s something that might’ve been passed by - so if you’re not just a collector but a reader, this is the one for you.

Hidden Gem in Uncanny X-Men Annual #15: Wolverine’s Inner Battle

How good is that first page?

It’s just beautiful. As the story is only 5 pages long, we don’t really want to show you anymore, but it’s about Wolverine facing his inner demons, the beast within, the weapon that he is and whatever other cliches you can associate with the hairy little mutant.

The writing is fantastic , the art is perfect for the story and the second from last page might actually give you nightmares (it might not, but you could be of a sensitive disposition)

Just hunt it down, read it and then thank us later.
