Thought the film was directed much much better than Jon Watts spiderman films. The small scenes that payed homage to the comic covers was a nice touch and the use of the slow mo shots for them made them great. From the swinging scenes to the action and fighting scenes everything was better than Jon Watts.

Peter finally realises that he needs his humanity and that balance between Peter and spiderman to have full control over the spider mutation and it’s the full circle from the start of the film of diving into Spiderman and not having that balance with Peter Parker, having the moments with Aunt May in his head is important as no one can do it alone and it only takes 1 person to believe in you to get yourself set on the right path and that’s important for both Peter and Sadie’s character, so it’s about having that humanity and not being alone where Peter now understands the mutation he was going through.

Then this sets up the next Spiderman as it was only the beginning of his mutation and he can only get stronger from here, now he fully understands what he’s capable of and the balance between the two and when the black eyes part is needed, maybe we could start to see more in secret wars.

Post credit scene perfectly shows that something is coming spiderman wise whether that’s Tobey’s spiderman on his Earth where the incursion is happening with the xmen universe, or another spiderman in space.

Gave it that 4 as some parts felt slow or could have been done faster but that was only a very small part of the film.

I've been told that many people find the new installment to be 'filler material' prepping for Doomsday... Any truth in that?

I don’t believe this film by any means was filler material, it was a perfect end to the previous Tom Holland films of homecoming, far from home, no way home and now brand new day, as suggested by the film title, when you get to the end of the film you get a Spiderman who now knows the balance between Spiderman and Peter Parker and not more Spiderman, he now understands the importance of the people around him and not to do everything alone. He is the heart of New York and everyone looks up to him.
