Fantasy Road / Cardz

Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of Cardz — the AI trading-card scanning and bulk-listing tools provided by Fantasy Road. This covers both the Cardz desktop app (the Windows & macOS download you buy outright) and the /cardz-upload web tool. By buying a licence, ticking the acceptance box at checkout, downloading the app, or using the tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Cardz.

Version 2026-06-13

The most important point

Cardz uses AI to identify your cards and draft listings, including a suggested price. These are estimates and can be wrong. You must check every listing — especially the price, set, card, grade, condition and description — before it is published or exported to eBay, Whatnot or anywhere else. Fantasy Road is not liable for items that sell at an incorrect price, are mis-described or mis-graded, or for any loss caused by an inaccurate or unreviewed listing.

1. The service

Cardz lets you photograph trading cards and other collectibles, uses AI to identify them and draft listing details (game/set, card name and number, rarity, grade/condition, description and a suggested price), and helps you bulk-list those items to third-party marketplaces — currently eBay (via your own connected eBay account) and Whatnot (via CSV export) — as well as in-store CSV. It is sold in two forms: the desktop app (a one-time, perpetual licence — see section 6) and the web tool (provided under an ongoing licence — see section 7). We may add, change or remove features at any time.

2. AI accuracy is not guaranteed

AI identifications, sets, grades, conditions, descriptions and suggested prices are automated best-efforts based on the photos you provide. They may be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong. Cardz does not value, authenticate or grade your cards, and a suggested price is not an appraisal or a guarantee of what a card is worth or will sell for. You are responsible for your own pricing and grading decisions.

3. Your responsibility to review every listing

Before you publish, export or otherwise make any listing live, you must review and confirm that it is correct, including:

  • the price (and, for auctions, the start price, duration and any reserve);
  • the card identity — game, set, card name, number, variant, rarity and quantity;
  • the grade, condition and description;
  • the photos attached to the listing; and
  • any shipping, returns and marketplace-specific settings.

You alone control whether a listing goes live and at what price. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fantasy Road is not responsible or liable for items sold at an incorrect or unintended price, for mispriced, mis-graded or mis-described listings, for listings created or published in error, or for any resulting loss of profit, fees, refunds or buyer disputes. Treat the AI output as a draft to check, not a finished listing to trust blindly.

4. Third-party marketplaces

eBay, Whatnot and any other marketplace you list to are independent third parties with their own terms, fees and policies, which you are responsible for following. When you connect your eBay account, you authorise Cardz to create and manage listings on your behalf through eBay's API; you remain the seller of record and are responsible for fulfilling your sales. Fantasy Road does not control those platforms and is not responsible for their fees, outages, policy changes, account suspensions, payouts or buyer/seller disputes.

5. AI providers and your own API key

The desktop app uses your own OpenAI account and API key, which you supply during setup. You are responsible for keeping that key secure, for complying with OpenAI's terms, and for all charges OpenAI bills you for your usage. Fantasy Road does not control OpenAI, does not pay your OpenAI costs, and is not responsible for its pricing, availability, rate limits, model changes or downtime. The web tool instead uses AI provided by Fantasy Road as part of your licence, subject to the scan allowance for your plan; to provide either service we send the photos you upload to our AI provider for identification.

6. The desktop app — one-time purchase & support

  • The desktop app is a one-time purchase for a perpetual licence to use the version you download on Windows and macOS. There is no subscription for the desktop app.
  • A perpetual licence means the software you have installed keeps working for your own use. It does not guarantee future updates, new features, or that any online or third-party-dependent feature will keep functioning.
  • We reserve the right to terminate, suspend or withdraw support, updates, and any server-side or online features for the desktop app at any time, including features that depend on our systems, on eBay/Whatnot, or on OpenAI. We will use reasonable efforts to give notice where practical, but support is provided on a best-efforts basis and is not guaranteed for any period.
  • Except where required by law, the one-time purchase is non-refundable. Your licence is for your own selling activity — do not share, resell or transfer your licence key.

7. The web tool — licence, scans & billing

  • The /cardz-upload web tool is provided under an ongoing licence, processed by Stripe. Where it is sold as a recurring subscription you authorise recurring charges until you cancel.
  • Each plan includes a pool of AI scans; the monthly allowance resets each month — including on a yearly plan. Optional add-on scan packs are one-off purchases that roll over until used.
  • Prices and allowances may change; we will give reasonable notice of changes that affect your renewal. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay for that term.
  • You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not refund partial periods or unused scans.
  • The desktop app and the web tool are separate products: a desktop licence does not include the web tool, and a web subscription does not include the desktop download.

8. Acceptable use

You agree to use Cardz only for lawful purposes and only for items you are entitled to sell. You must not upload unlawful content, infringe anyone's rights, attempt to bypass scan limits or licensing, reverse-engineer or abuse the AI service, or use Cardz in a way that harms the service or other users. We may suspend or revoke a licence (an instant kill-switch on the account) for breach of these terms, non-payment, fraud or chargeback.

9. Intellectual property

The Cardz software, branding and content are owned by Fantasy Road and licensed to you, not sold. You keep ownership of the photos and listing data you supply, and you grant Fantasy Road the limited right to process them to provide the service (including sending images to our AI provider for identification).

10. No warranty

Cardz is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or fit for your purposes.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fantasy Road will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, sales, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of Cardz — including, without limitation, items sold at an incorrect price, losses arising from inaccurate or unreviewed listings, OpenAI or marketplace charges, or the withdrawal of desktop support or features. Our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid Fantasy Road for Cardz in that period. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Fantasy Road against claims, losses and costs arising from your listings, your sales, your use of the marketplaces, or your breach of these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is shown above and at /cardz/terms. Continuing to use Cardz after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions about these terms or your account? Contact Fantasy Road through the support details on our website.
