How to Check Pokémon Card Values Without Guessing
A seller-focused method for checking Pokémon card values using exact variants, condition and recent comparable sales.
Value the exact printing
Match the set, collector number, language and finish. Do not transfer the price of a first edition, reverse holo or graded copy to a different printing.
Separate raw and graded evidence
Professional grading adds a specific company and grade to the item. Raw cards should be compared with raw sales unless you are separately assessing whether grading costs and risks make sense.
Inspect condition before searching
Surface scratches, whitening, dents, creases and centring affect buyer expectations. Use multiple photographs and avoid describing a card as mint when it has not been professionally graded.
Build a defensible range
Use several recent sold examples, exclude obvious outliers and account for postage and currency. A range is usually more honest than a single supposedly exact value.
