Publication year separates Modern from Vintage. Declared fair market value determines whether a capped or high-value tier applies. CGC may adjust an incorrectly selected tier.
Optional preparation and autograph authentication are charged per comic or signature. Return postage is shared across a multi-book order, so the effective cost per book usually falls when several books travel together.
Calculate the real cost
Include grading, Fantasy Road handling, pressing or cleaning, authentication, your postage to Fantasy Road and insured return postage. Do not compare the grading fee alone with the expected sale price.
Use realistic sold prices after marketplace fees. Asking prices are not evidence of what a slab will sell for.
