Inventory software fails when it describes an imaginary tidy shop. Real stock gets reserved, returned, moved, damaged and sold on more than one channel. The record has to follow those events.
One physical item, one dependable record
Save reviewed comics to Pro inventory and assign a SKU. Use separate records for variants or materially different conditions. Record room, rack, box and position so the database can answer the only question that matters during dispatch: where is it?
Use statuses as operational decisions
Available means it can be sold. Listed means a channel is involved; reserved means staff should stop offering it. Sold, returned, lost and damaged should follow a real event, not a guess. Refresh channel state before changing a disputed record.
Keep the money fields honest
Purchase cost, fees and postage produce useful margin only when entered consistently. Asking price is not revenue. Marketplace fee comparisons are estimates, while the sold record should use the actual settlement figures.
Move data carefully
Preview CSV mappings and duplicates before import. Export before a large change. Revision conflicts mean another device edited the record; reopen the latest version rather than overwriting it.
