A slab label contains useful structured data, but a reflective case is an awkward photographic subject. The quickest result usually comes from fixing the light rather than taking ten similar pictures.
Choose Slabbed Comics
Select slab mode before capture. Frame the complete slab so Comicz can see the comic and label together. Do not use a cropped label as the only sales photograph.
Control reflections
Place the slab on a dark, plain surface and move the lights to either side. Hold the camera parallel to the case. If the grade or certificate is soft, take a second closer label photograph.
Compare every label field
Check grading company, numeric grade, page quality, certification number and issue identity against the physical label. Similar cover art does not override the printed certification data.
Describe the object being sold
Separate comic grade from case condition. Scratches, Newton rings, scuffs or label damage may matter to a buyer even though they do not change the encapsulated grade.
